Stella By Starlight- Review by Carly L

In my opinion I think Stella by Starlight could possibly
 win the award. It was an amazing book. Although the
 book did get off to a slow start, the ending made up
for it. The ending was great. So many things happened
in the end that made me want to keep reading. The book
Stella by Starlight was about a girl named Stella who
lived in the time of the Klu Klux Klan(KKK). Stella had colored skin.The KKK was against people with colored skin. The KKK would go as far as to burn colored peoples houses down. Stella didn't like the KKK and was very scared that they would do something bad to their family. Her family was did not have much money, and that made Stella even more scared that if the KKK did something to their family that her family wouldn't have a place to go. By the end of the book Stella's mom gets injured and is unable to do most of the jobs she used to be able to do. Stella has to learn to take over the jobs her mom did. Overall, Stella by Starlight was a great book. And in my opinion it is a Stella by Starlight has a good chance at winning the Newbery award.

The Bubble Wrap Boy Review By: Bella L

I think that the book The Bubble Wrap Boy deserves a Newbery book because it had a really good story plot and everything is really touching. The book The Bubble Wrap Boy is about a young boy who has a very strict mother and she is very protective of him. He really wanted to skate but his mother never let him and he did it anyway and got caught. Which was very bad. He wanted to continue to skate but he had to do it safely so that his mother wouldn't be unhappy with him. He decided that he but bubble wrap all over his body when he was skating and he didn't care what others thought about how he looked. One day a boy walked by and started calling him bubble wrap boy. So he was named after that. But everyone was calling someone B.W.B and nobody knew that was really the boy. This book really told me I shouldn't care what others think about how I look. I think this book really deserves a Newbery award because of it's special meaning.- Bella L

House Arrest Review By: Bella L

             The Book House Arrest deserves a Newbery award because it has a great plot and it is very interesting because it is written in verse and that is very cool. It was the first time I every read in verse. This book is about a boy and his brother is sick and can get sick very often because he cannot breath correctly. So everything comes from his neck. At one time his brother got very sick. He didn't know what to do and he needed to get medicine. When he went to the store he stole a mans wallet so he could buy the medicine because the medicine is so expensive and Levi gets so sick. He goes through some hard times but he gets through it. Also his mother didn't really trust him because he stole a wallet. But he still always thought that one thing gone wrong can send him to jail.  I think this book will get a Newbery award because of it's outstanding plot. -Bella L
